Architectural Pedagogy in Black and White: Changing Exclusionary Cultural Practices within Architectural Education

Using case studies, interview evidence and personal experience, this paper discusses cultural practices within architectural education. Through examining how it has the capacity to hinder students of marginalised backgrounds, especially those of colour, while benefitting other demographics. This paper additionally provides recommendations to help improve teaching delivery and student satisfaction when approaching the curriculum. Another aim of the paper is to highlight the need for further research into the notion of cultural practices within architectural education.
